Congratulations on your decision to purchase a hot tub!  Hot tubs can be relaxing and entertaining but there are a few things you need to consider before you buy one.  How many people will normally be in the hot tub?  Purchasing a hot tub that is over sized will cost more in maintenance and in energy bills. Be sure to consider the best depth for your enjoyment. Hot tubs can vary in height and can easily be checked before a purchase by simply sitting in the hot tub.
Consider the placement of the hot tub. This is likely the most important question to answer before your purchase.  Do you have access to move it in?  Is there an available electrical connection? Many hot tubs can be wired for 110 or 220 Volts. Considering that many hot tubs have 4 separate motors, 220 Volts can be more economical to operate than 110.
Consider the surface that the hot tub will be placed on. A deck should be able to support 150 Lbs per Sq. Ft. A suitable concrete pad should be 4" in thickness. If you wish to place your hot tub in your yard, we recommend to purchase a light weight portable support deck that can be easily assembled and used.
